Painting is my passion. It can be a lot of hard work, and at other times, soothing for the soul, but is always rewarding. I feel painting has broadened my horizons in many ways. It allows me to see more clearly the beauty of this world as I study my subject for all the hours it takes to create each image. This is a journey that I will never master as I am given daily opportunities to stretch in both imagination and technical skill. There will always be new subjects to challenge me.When I'm riding in a car or walking, I'm always studying the flowers, trees, rocks and birds... Paying attention to all the fine details in this big beautiful world, seeing my palette in my minds eye and thinking what colors I would use to paint that tree or little leaf, gives ever increasing excitement and joy to my life.
This is how it all started..... A few years ago my mother came to visit me. She saw some of my drawings and asked, "Why don’t you paint?" I replied, "I don’t know how to paint." She offered to give me her old painting supplies, because she couldn't use them anymore due to arthritis. Along with the art supplies she also had some old Bob Ross video tapes. I viewed them and away I went. Thank you for giving me your art supplies Mom, they I didn't let them go to waste.
I love painting all subjects… It's hard for me to decide what I want to paint, because I love it all! One thing I do know for sure, as I approach my easel, it's always with joy and excitement. Also, I truly enjoy showing my work at Art shows, because I actually get to meet, connect and discuss art with people/customers. It's so rewarding when people walk up to my art and look really close at the detail in a piece. This is what makes it all worth while!
